“He’s old, he’s slow, he rides real low. Folks love him just the same.”

“It’s Little Buck the Fire Truck!

He’s here to save the day!”

He’s also here to inspire children to laugh, learn, and feel a little bit more comfortable with wildfire.

Author Jacqui Jorgeson wrote Little Buck the Fire Truck for all children to enjoy, but it’s also a trauma-informed, AR-enabled picture book created to help young children make sense of what’s happening when a wildfire burns close to home.

With gentle rhymes, Elita Elkana’s charming illustrations, and an instantly lovable lead character, Little Buck reminds us that we don’t have to be big and strong to be brave – and that help is never far away.

An instant classic meets cutting-edge technology…

We partnered with Los Angeles-based digital entertainment company Living Popups to offer children and their grown-ups a whole new way to experience Little Buck the Fire Truck – in stunning augmented reality.

Little Buck the Fire Truck is based on a true story.

It was August 2020.

Author Jacqui Jorgeson had just founded the Northern California-based nonprofit Volunteer Fire Foundation following two significant local wildfires when another sparked.

She arrived on the line of the Walbridge Fire to deliver supplies to volunteer firefighters and instantly fell in love with Camp Meeker Volunteer fire engine 5581.

That night, Little Buck the Fire Truck was born.

Jacqui wrote the book not only for her son Edsel, who was 20 months old at the time, but to help all young children understand the smoke, sirens, and evacuations that have become increasingly common throughout the world.

The author is donating 50% of her share of profits from Little Buck the Fire Truck to support Volunteer Fire Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit she founded in 2020 to recruit, retain, and support critically underfunded volunteer firefighters in Sonoma County and beyond.
